Why Your Skin Behaves Differently When You Travel

Traveling means variety, not only for the mind but also for the skin. Different temperatures, altered humidity, UV radiation, or urban environmental pollution present new challenges for the skin. What works well at home may not be sufficient on the go or may suddenly feel "wrong."

It's important to note: Your existing routine doesn't need to be completely replaced. Rather, it's worth adapting it specifically to the respective climate, with lighter textures, more intense moisture, or additional protection. We'll show you an overview of your skin's needs depending on the climate zone and which product types can effectively support it.

Tropical Weather

Tropical weather with high humidity can lead to excessive sebum production, blemishes, and skin irritation.

  • light moisturizer
  • serums with light textures
  • mild oil cleansers - to thoroughly and gently remove excess sebum from the skin

Tropical Heat

Heat and dry air often lead to dehydrated and flaky skin, as well as redness and irritation.

In such cases, we recommend:

  • light moisturizer
  • serums with light textures
  • gentle cleanser - that does not damage the skin's hydrolipid barrier
  • soothing & intensely hydrating ingredients

Urban Climate

A city vacation often leads to oxidative stress, which promotes factors such as premature skin aging, redness, and irritation.

  • Antioxidants - to protect the skin from cell damage caused by free radicals
  • Thorough cleansing through double cleansing

Dry Cold

Cold, dry winter air can damage the skin barrier, dry out the skin and cause redness and irritation.

The best options are:

  • rich moisturizers - to strengthen the skin barrier
  • soothing ingredients
  • cleansing with lukewarm instead of hot water

Strong Sun

In regions with intense sun exposure, sunburn, premature skin aging, hyperpigmentation, and dehydrated skin can occur.

Focus on:

  • a high to very high sun protection factor
  • Antioxidant active ingredients - to boost sun protection
  • Products that counteract the signs of increased melanin production
  • plenty of moisture after sun exposure

Skincare in Your Carry-On: Your Routine in Travel Size

For carry-on luggage: Each liquid product may contain a maximum of 100 ml and must fit into a transparent bag. For skincare, this often means: decant, sort out, or do without entirely. But it doesn't have to be that way.

Because when traveling, it's not the quantity that counts, but the effect. Instead of taking large original sizes, it's worth specifically downsizing your routine – adapted to travel duration, climate, and skin needs. Products in mini sizes meet the carry-on requirements, save space, and make your care more flexible.

FAQ

How do I find out what skincare my skin needs when traveling?

Our products are formulated to be easily combined, enabling effective and enjoyable routines.
If you're unsure what your skin needs, our Skincare Quiz can help you identify your needs and suggest suitable products for your skincare routine.

Do I need to completely change my skincare routine on vacation?

No. In most cases, it's sufficient to adapt your existing routine specifically. Climate, UV radiation, or dry air can bring about different needs, but your skin usually benefits from sticking to proven products and supplementing them appropriately depending on your destination.

Should I use sunscreen on a plane?

UVA rays can penetrate glass windows, while UVB rays are largely blocked. Especially on airplanes and in window seats, sun protection can therefore be a sensible addition to your skincare routine. If you want to protect your skin on the go, a light sunscreen can help shield it from external influences.

For carry-on luggage, lightweight textures in travel sizes are particularly suitable, such as our Glowy Sunfluid in mini size, which can be applied easily on the go.
